As previously posted, Microsoft plans to include newly-crafted fonts in their next OS and Office releases. What wasn't known at the time was that apparently they will be sunsetting Times New Roman and will replace it with Calibri -- a sans serif typeface with what appears to be wider, rounder proportions and a larger x-height that Times -- as the new default font for Office 2007. While I'm not in love with Times New Roman, I don't quite understand why they couldn't use a font that was at least a serif that was closer to Times in proportion so that (legacy) documents and sites that were set in Times wouldn't look so wonkered?
