Few of you may know of a Little Rascals episode where the kids staged a Flory Dory show to raise money. Rather than conform with conventional wisdom, however, the kids admitted the audience into the show without demanding payment up front and, instead, allowed them to pay as they exit.
Interestingly enough, this payment model seems to be working for Jane Siberry, the Canadian singer-songwriter who has adopted an honor-system payment model for her downloadable music. It works mostly because it meshes with her philosophy (or worldview) that she and her fans have in common. Her fans aren't kids -- they have credit cards and aren't likely to be interested in subverting the system just to see if it can be done.
